If you follow the quests inside with plenty of hunting around, you should be able to pretty easily kill the Worker Diggers just outside the big main doorway. They drop Digger Armor which you can sell at the Kiosks for weapons and armor.

Between that and the indoor quests, you should be about Level 4 or 5.

You can then go out and start farming the Raiders (two tiny groups in the cave area) and get better gear.

The quest items are scattered around a lot (and with no map implemented yet in this build can be slow to find).

Most of the enemies you face still do very little and do not move about much at all unless you start to fight them, so combat is pretty basic.

I am hoping we'll see more AI and better combat than just the standard 'bullet sponge' dynamics soon (so we do more than just shoot mindlessly until their or our health bar drops to zero).

There is kind of a tough spot when you get to Level 5-7, where it is hard to kill still and you have for the moment run out of quests.

There is still so much work being done...

Give it a try outside and use the indoor kiosks to upgrade weapons and armor, and you should be OK.

p.s. There are no flowers in the world at the moment for the flower quests.

I just this second picked up the 'Improved Cerberus' from a Raider. This is like an Epic weapon in regular MMOs.

It seems to go: Junk/Common/Uncommon/Improved

Once I have that weapon, I am now kicking butt as Level 6.

The balance needs tuning, of course, but this gun makes me feel great after suffering for a long time with the ones I purchased.

Just keep the Alpha status firmly in mind, and post feedback and bugs as much as possible.

There are some threads on balance and how hard the starter experience should be.

The quests are actively being re-worked and fixed up right now, so they should be better soon (in working out how to find things and such).
Remember:

We have no critical hit points yet, no crafting, no real loot at all to speak of other than Raiders mostly...

So it can be hard to get gear to be competitive, even with the no AI 'brainless' enemies that are there now...
Also - the more you fight, the better you get with your weapon and armor (when you get hit, you get better with Armor).

If you find an Assault Rifle with rate of fire of 7, you will be strong.

Right now AGI helps Pistol damage and PER helps Assault Rifle damage.

When you buy items at the store they have random stats, so if you can afford it, try buying more than one if your item isn't so great on first purchase.

Just finished my first hour with PG and am loving it. I'm having a bit of trouble finding some of the quest NPC's to talk to...I swear I have walked over every single part of the Ark and cannot find "Marie" anywhere, or the owner of the watch.
Still, I like the way the quests are handled for the most part.
I will be glad when the text that shows up on interaction with some objects lasts long enough to finish reading it!

Next time I guess I will try venturing "outside" and see what happens. :)

That isn't end of the world inside the Ark, there is a scientists' town near the sea :)

ooh...can't wait to get there! But I think I need to be a bit stronger first....only at level 2 with crap armor and weapon....level 4 bugs are eating me. Made it just outside to the Green Hills 4x4 area and shot a lot of bugs. Bigger bugs are eating me pretty easily right now.

I am having fun but getting a headache trying to convert my brain to non-inverted mouse. I can't shoot anything LOL. Is there maybe a config file or something where I can invert it?

Found a line in Config/DefaultInput.ini that might work
UE allows a lot of customization in input and graphics by default in the config files, so anything you don't find in options, you might find in various .inis. These files are overwritten by patches though, which might be an issue later.

It worked!
In Config/DefaultInput.ini, change False to True.

+AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="MouseY",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.000000,Sensitivity=0.070000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=True))
