Hi, everyone!
Today we are announcing a new character progression system.

Thanks to you and your input, during testing we received a lot of feedback and ideas which inspired us to redesign the basic character progression mechanics.

Now every character has a Genom window, which includes:
  • progression path experience;
  • skill experience;
  • level and experience;
  • human, mutant and synthetic points;
  • character organism status;

All these elements are closely interlinked.

For more information about the new progression system can be read on this page.

To players

On a daily basis, our team is trying to make the project unique and exciting, giving our players new experience, freedom to experiment with different builds and devising new tactics. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy this character progression system. See you in the world of Genom.

Woot awesome sauce! This is going to make things so awesomely diversifiable!

I've questioned the Dev's and been told that this new character progression system is in the very early still being developed stageand there is no set time yet for its release into the game.
The Dev's are asking for all feedback and suggestions anyone has to please do so, many of our player ideas have already been implemented and unlike so many other games these Dev's actually listen to and ask for player input.

The open world update is also slated to be released soon, I am expecting a Christmas present possibly :)

One thing I will say after reading through that is I'm not exactly thrilled about that kind of progression system. Assigning points has always been my least favorite type of progression in MMO's, I much prefer base stats to have a static growth with any adjustments to them being from gear alone.

Not being able to respec or reassign points makes it even worse, if anything it seems better to just not spend any points at all until the very end so you don't accidentally ruin any chance of your character being good, then spend the points after researching builds that other people have made. If it is not possible to just scrap assigning points to stats (again, a system I strongly oppose) then we need a way to reassign points if we make a mistake.

Edit: The disease thing does sound interesting though. At least until people start figuring out how/where to get certain ones and what they do then intentionally start "gaming the system" to get the one that they want.

It sounds amazing to me as well.

I personally enjoy the current mix even right now of being able to add points ourselves AND to have skills auto-level up as we use items.

The new system described sounds like it has also a mix of players controlling where stats are allocated AND the skill developing and Diseases developing in parallel with that.

The organs, chips, diseases all interacting along with everything else sounds really really good to me.

The kind of variety / diversity in the new system sounds like it will let us play many characters for many many hours (days) always finding new things and combinations of things keeping play fun and interesting.

I look forward to the new system!
