Introduction

Hello, friends! Project Genom is another week closer to the global update, and we are glad to tell you what we have done during these seven days.

Software

We have almost finished working on database and switching between servers. It is also necessary to test the game in order to find critical bugs. If no bugs are found, the task may be considered complete.

We also continue adjusting and adding the non-player characters, trying to improve their behavior and interaction with the environment. The work has begun on the possibility of dialogues between NPCs. In addition to visual component, we want to add a system of optional quests which a player can get by overhearing conversations between NPCs. Dialogues between NPCs will also become an additional mechanics for the main plot quests. We’re working on the system allowing NPCs patrolling the territory.

This week, we were engaged in reducing the non-player characters’ load on the server's CPU.

We are constantly fixing minor bugs which are revealed during the closed testing. For instance, a minor interface change allowed us to add a marker appearing in the center of the screen when the character is empty handed, and also an empty hands icon in the weapon interface when no weapon is equipped. NPC day and night routine schedules, items’ popup info boxes and localization systems are also being fixed.

World

Scientists camp has been completed this week.

We added the day and night change system that depends on the server time.

We are working on details for the snow-covered location. Our team improves landscape materials, adds basic objects to the scene and creates snow-covered plants.

Character

This week, we started modeling sets of high-level armored suits, which are necessary for the steady character’s leveling up.

LODs for characters with skeleton were added to the project; it will significantly reduce the load when lots of players and NPCs are in one frame.

We continue working on female characters’ animations.

Opponents

We have created and improved animations for all types of Digger mobs in the game.

Conclusion

We are glad to announce that the longest and the most difficult programming tasks are almost completed. Updates are largely dependent on these tasks. Though there is still plenty of work to be done, this step is crucial for the game development.

We’d also like to remind everyone who suggests buying the game — it’s in the alpha stage at the moment. So, we strongly recommend not buying it if you expect a full-fledged finished project. Purchasing the game now you support the development and get the opportunity to see its early stages. If you want to enjoy a full game experience with the maximum number of game mechanics and no critical errors, we advise you to wait until the game enters the beta testing stage or even later.

Google translate:
After studying the community feedback, as well as discussions in the team, we made a decision.
Game time to the real will have a ratio of 5 to 1.
Those. For 1 real hour in the game will be 5 game (server) hours. For 1 real day in the game will be 5 game (server) days.

90% done is no easy task -- if memory serves me correctly, netcode work began Oct. of last year, so 7 months give or take to get to 90% is definitely expedited progression. On behalf of the player's, thank you for this...

This update is very much hyped up, and I think we've all stretched our patience to the brink of collapse, if not further than that already. But, coming from Firefall, I know how sad it can be for a game to have bugs all the way down to the core components. I know what its like to see patches merely stack bug on bug and seeing the console log just peppered with warnings and system errors that seem not to affect gameplay, but it bothers you that they're there. So, to that end, please take your time, PGE team. :)

Not entirely the case, it just means they got the difficult portion of the project done, they still have to revise, edit, etc. Which that could be a little bit to do.

Yeah true, but imo they must be going through QA every some week for with what they've done. And by soon ish I'm expecting more like one month
