So what's really going on? Can anyone give a truthful answer?

    PGs Reason: https://pgenom.com/community/threads/open-letter-from-neuronhaze-about-removal-the-game-from-steam.2285/

    The Accusers Reason:https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/5eehi0/why_the_mmo_project_genom_was_removed_from_steam/

The fact that steam pulled the game is evidence that there are legal issues that have to be resolved and once a game gets pulled from steam, specially for copywrite claims, it's highly unlikely the game will return anytime soon until the matter is fully resolved and in this case it will prob require some sort of court case which will take months and months if done at all.

In other words R.I.P -> PG??

This so to say issue doesn’t deal with development process at all, Steam can pull the game in case of ANY accusation, no matter legal or illegal. This situation will be resolved soon, no worries.

Steam only pulls a game when theres positive reason to a claim. If they started with an accuser and just pulled a game until it was resolved then you would see TONS of game being pulled every single day lol.

Sorry steam is way more detailed than that. They got the claim, reviewed it and found reasonable evidence that supported the accuser's claim and so they pulled it.

Now the PG team is on deffence, the game is off steam and out of their hands, for the game to return at this point steam will require PROOF from a copywrite claim or documentation legally settled before they will bother adding a game back that has this sort of legal issues.

Steam is smart and will not risk anything on their end with games that have legal issues

At the same time the game was already going downhill from bad reviews and lack of communication/content. This was the last thing this game needed was some sort of legal issue that caused the game to get taken down from steam. This could very well be the nail in the coffin for this game...

Well I don’t want to argue with you, so we’ll see. No, thats not a nail in the coffin for this game. Devs still continue to develop it. Wait few days and you’ll see.

Definitely not going to get my hopes up, been posting here for some time waiting over a month for something new to be added or at least some kind of Developer feedback with nothing. Now the only thing new is a removal of the game from steam and claims of wrong doing by the dev team...

Will continue to watch what happens but with little hope.

wow, I am actually starting to think this is more than just a copywrite claim...

According to steam under Section 512(f) of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, "any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing may be liable for damages."

This actually points to the material in which the game trailers show compaired to the actual content you receive. They openly and knowingly misrepresented the game itself being far more than what it is at the same time of selling DLCs for up to $100 that did not give what they advertised...

Looks like they violated Section 512(f) several times... not counting the despute between the accuser and PG which is another matter altogether.

I realize that not everyone is as hopeful and optimistic as I am but I don't think we really need more doomsday threads right now. There's enough going around, don't you think?

    Hi Machine, :)

Just wondering what are you looking for in this post here?

As I read several discussions you are involved in you seem to have all the facts and you seem to have made up your mind as to what you feel will happen due to the negative context you have inserted the facts into.

So I wonder why you want to waste your time sticking around here? I am pretty sure we have all read the posts on both sides and have our own opinions. Some of us will leave the community and some will stay, that is up to us individually to choose.

If they game does die so be it, it was fun while it lasted. Make your one post about how unhappy you are, request your refund or shelve it and move on!

    Its like a Domestic Dispute:

Officers show up to a house for a Domestic Dispute, they observe, if there is ANY reason to believe a Dispute just happened, one of the parties involved are being taken away. (Can't risk having both remain and something worst happening).

Steam took it down as based on the details provided, there is reason to believe their could be a Major problem. So, everything is pulled, halted, and observed/Examined to find the true and figure out what is going on. When the issue is resolved, they are notified and the game may/may not be put back up based on what was found.

    The problem is as follows:
A programmer was fired for being inactive for one month. Good reason.
NH hadn't signed a formal contract with him stipulating that code written for them was theirs in exchange for a wage.
They still paid him a wage.

Thus, he was paid but his work is his intellectual property. His actions after the event were to try to charge NH more money to continue his work (10% of revenue), or he'll use the law to destroy the game. NH was forced to respond to this by suing for extortion.

Steam is contacted by him and sees a legal shitstorm brewing, pulls the game from the Store to avoid legal entanglement.

It's a cut and dry case, in threatening to destroy the company if he doesn't receive 10% of revenue, he is a criminal. His code IS his intellectual property, but his demands are extortionate, and thus illegal. NH has not broken the law - they simply failed to acquire his code through a formal contract. He's been paid quite a hefty amount by them for his work.

No reputable judge would see it differently. Furthermore, if there's evidence that both parties believed that his code was the property of NH at the time he was writing it, he cannot assume legal ownership of it since the evidence of his salary is absolute.
